AT & T Fiber installed in my neighborhood...
« on: March 31, 2017, 07:53:25 am »
Pretty stoked, AT & T finally ran Fiber in my neighborhood.  They are offering 1000Mbps down for $70/month.  That is less then I was paying for 300Mbps down from my cable company.

Download Speed  929 Mbps (116125 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed  934 Mbps (116750 KB/sec transfer rate)

One benefit of being close to civilization Pyldrvr!!!

I was jealous too but since I had 300mb AT&T fiber already I decided to call and see if 1000 was available yet and it was.  And I saved 10 per month too.  Thanks Valen, woot!

WOW! That is insane speed! I thought I had it good using the schools internet (We have a dedicated microwave tower just for the school and the staff homes), but you win.

grrrrrr my cable company can give me 1 gig over cable with a modem change which I have. So no large infrastructure cost for them but for some reason its  $220 a month.

Pricing for my cable co is insane

115 M $115/month    new customer $39/month
500 M  $200/month   new customer  $59/month
1 gig $220/month     new Customer $ 130/month WTF?

Happy for ya though!!

Cableone prices isn't to bad for the basic 100mb connection to bad the data cap make it hard to use it. From there it gets damn expensive

$55   100Mbps 300GB
$80   150Mbps 500GB
$105 200Mbps 700GB
$175 1000Mbps 1100GB.

So Want to back up a drive on a could service? Not happening with cableone. They love bending their customers over and anal raping them.

There is a fiber company, TruFiber, that's making it's way through the city but is only in a  few neighborhoods right now. But they list what neighborhoods their going to install it in next, if it's your and you tell them you want it they'll install it for free when they do the neighborhoods.

Remember it's not StarDruid if it's not random topics.
