Upcoming Releases / Re: Destiny 2 on Battle.net

Yeah, glad #2 is coming to the PC. Wanted to play the first but I hate consoles
Not really wrong, only games I like on consoles are RPG, and not willing to pay teh money for new console every few years when I can go 4-8 years between upgrades on PC. So in many ways i do hate consoles.

Being an active player on XB1, I don't think it will do well on PC. PC players will plow through the campaign it like its nothing (not that story was ever a big thing) and I imagine the PvP will be a joke and overall time better spent in battlefield or COD where player count is more entertaining.

Won't be a issue for me, I'm still level 41 in FF14. Takes me a long time to get through content any more. Sure I might possible get to play 8 hours a night a work but it has to be game I can get up and leave at any time if a client wakes up and needs my help or I have to do scheduled lifechecks on them. Means MMO are general out of the question, So I tend to spend my shift watching video and/or play minecraft or single player games with cleaning, lifechecks, and paperwork mixed in.  In the end Weekends are my only time to play MMOs of any kind, and that's mostly spent playing PlanetSide 2. If I play destiny 2 I'll be still working on the original game when their releasing the 3rd expansion.

I haven't fired up a computer game in around 3 months now... I'm afraid by the time this comes out, I'll have no interest any more! Though the call of my SN family will certainly lure me back to at least give it a go, and a bunch of fun squad nights will reignite the fire. I hope, or I'm going to have a whole bunch of money donated for nada...

don't worry...it's ok to take breaks and priority change.

Civilization Series / Re: Initial build sequence?
« Last post by Bannta on May 19, 2017, 01:01:16 pm »
I know most civ players have an initial build order to start the game. I think it's fun to see what everyone generally shoots for (understanding that specific map conditions may change things up a bit).

For me I usually play on King (Difficulty 5) and use the following:
1) Scout while exploring with my starter warrior
Choose research pottery
2) Upon completion of scout, start building worker
3) Once pottery completes, turn on build queue and place a shrine above the worker you started
Research whatever tech is needed for your first worker to be useful (calendar, mining, animal husandry)
4) upon completion of shrine, resume building that worker
5) usually tech + work finish near same time
6) frm here, my strat diverges greatly based on the conditions of the map.

The goal of this strat is to get one of the first 2 or 3 pantheons, and is greatly aided by the scout hopefully finding a city state that is religious (+8 faith). The pantheon i choose is almost always different depending on my civ and starting location. I shoot for faith and try to be the first to found my religion, as I find religion early to be worth the effort as the payoff in using faith to buy great people in the industrial era a major factor in my ability to come from behind.

Typically i'll end up in last or 2nd to last place until the renaissance era, and then slowly make my way up the ranks. Usually by the end of the industrial era I've wiped out a civ, and am duking it out for first place and putting the finishing touches on which victory condition i'm going to win with.

Interested to see how other people approach the early game.

1) Scout while exploring with my starter warrior
2) build another scout
3) race around finding all the ruins
4) steal settlers from a state.
3-5) build settler or try to steal one.
6) rico block a nearby state of the country from a valued resource by building a settlement or purchase the land.

Civilization Series / Re: Favorite civ? Why?
« Last post by Bannta on May 19, 2017, 12:56:25 pm »
Romans are my favorite as far as 'flavor' goes; I've always enjoyed Roman history.

But the Aztecs are easily my favorite Civ in the game for the following reasons:
- Jungle start bias. Jungles are hands down the best tiles in the game.
- Jaguars; in the jungle, they're practically scouts - strong scouts who heal 33% of their health and get a combat bonus in jungles. And can be upgraded through the entire game with all of these abilities intact.
- Floating Gardens give any city on a river a 15% bonus to food; combine that with a few other bonuses and you can easily get over 50% (which means every tile giving 2 food earns a bonus 3rd); I had a city in one game with 43 people that was still getting 30+ food excess a turn.
- Anything they kill yields culture.

I tend to not like playing too many different leaders, like In WoW I didn't like having more than one character. Just prefer to stick to what I know and enjoy. I know I can still viably shoot for most victory conditions with any leader, so the biggest factor I've found recently has often been what kind of start bias a leader has.

Yes...When we played together I would specifically race to offset and acquire his preferred abilities....because I'm evil and it's the only way to beat him.

and Yes, I prefer Pyldrvr as a woman too ...yet with all his male features.  :philosiraptor:

Do you know if that's the only acceptable building sequence? As fara as game's mechanics is concerned, it doesn't mean anything good since it's linear and hence BORING
